Flat and EPDM roofing
Low-slope and flat roofs cannot be shingled — they need a membrane. EPDM is a rubber membrane made for exactly that.

Why a flat roof is a different job
A shingle roof works because water runs off it quickly. On a flat or low-slope roof water sits and drains slowly, so the surface has to be genuinely watertight rather than water-shedding. That means a continuous membrane, sealed at every seam, edge and penetration.
Where flat roofing shows up on a house
- Additions and extensions with a low-slope roof
- Porch, garage and carport roofs
- Dormer tops and small sections between pitched slopes
- Flat sections over a deck or walkout
EPDM membrane
EPDM is a rubber membrane laid as a continuous sheet, which keeps the number of seams low. Its edges, drains and any penetrations through it are the details that decide whether it stays dry — that is where the work is.
What to send us
Tell us how big the flat area is, what is underneath it, and where you are seeing water. Photos of the surface and of any staining inside are the most useful thing you can send.
